FortiView - Address Object Names

Leveraging the UUID in traffic logs, FortiView can now resolve IP addresses for FortiGate object names using the FortiOS API. Administrators now have the option to display the original IP address or the FortiGate object names.

First, configure the FortiGate that is sending logs to the FortiAnalyzer to include the UUID in traffic logs:

config system global

set log-uuid extended

end

Top Sources view

  1. On the FortiAnalyzer, in FortiView, Top Sources has two views: Source Hosts (default) and Source Objects (new).

  2. Select the Source Objects view. The source address names are mapped from the source UUIDs and displayed in the Source Object column.

  3. Mouse over an object name to view the object definition, which includes the UUID, interface, and IP address / netmask.

Top Destinations view

  1. On the FortiAnalyzer, in FortiView, Top Destinations has two views: Destination IPs (default) and Destination Objects (new).

  2. Select the Destination Objects view. The destination address names are mapped from the destination UUIDs and displayed in the Destination Object column.

  3. Mouse over an object name to view the object definition, which includes the UUID, interface, and IP/netmask.
