Overview

This section includes a step-by-step guide for configuring a FortiGate in an active-passive HA solution on Azure Stack. Included is the procedure for adding Unicast HA templates as a private marketplace item for customers to use for FortiGate deployment for active-passive Unicast HA.

Once configured, Azure Stack administrators should be able to see FortiGate unicast HA options available in their Azure Stack marketplace. The same template can be used to deploy basic components of the below deployment types:

  1. Two FortiGates deployed without Azure Load Balancer for native Unicast active-passive HA using Fabric Connector and API call functionality.
  2. Two standalone FortiGates deployed with Azure Load Balancer integration for active-active HA.
  3. Two FortiGates deployed with Azure Load Balancer and route tables for active-passive Unicast HA.

For options 1 and 2, you can use this template and later add Azure Load Balancer to your resource and configure FortiGate as pool members, or you can refer to the documentation for options two and three, which includes more information on the templates required.

Before configuring the FortiGate as an active-passive HA solution, the following requirements must be met:

  • For downloading the FortiGate image from Azure Cloud on your local Azure Stack, it is required to have admin access to Azure Stack.
  • Install the Azure Gallery Packaging tool from: Create and publish a Marketplace item.
  • Install Visual Studio code or other script editors for editing azpkg files.
