How Universal Connector MEA works with FortiManager

Once Universal Connector MEA and FortiManager are configured, FortiManager uses the API to communicate with external applications through fabric connectors configured in Universal Connector MEA. After retrieving the information, FortiManager provides the information to managed FortiGates. Managed FortiGates do not communicate with external applications.

For example, a fabric connector to Guardicore Centra retrieves labels, and you can use the labels in FortiManager to create dynamic address objects, user group objects, and firewall policies, and install them to FortiGates. When information on Guardicore Centra changes, FortiManager learns the updated information and provides it to managed FortiGates. Managed FortiGates do not communicate with Guardicore Centra.
