Appendix A - Default and maximum number of ADOMs supported

Appendix A - Default and maximum number of ADOMs supported

This section identifies the supported number of ADOMs for FortiAnalyzer hardware models and virtual machines.

Note

When operating as a Fabric supervisor, FortiAnalyzer does not count member ADOMs and devices toward its license limit.

See also the FortiAnalyzer Data Sheet.

Hardware models

FortiAnalyzer supports a default number of ADOMs based on hardware model.

Some hardware models support an ADOM subscription license. When you purchase an ADOM subscription license, you increase the number of supported ADOMs. For example, you can purchase an ADOM subscription license for the FAZ-3000G series, which allows you to use up to a maximum of 1200 ADOMs. Other hardware models do not support the ADOM subscription license.

Some older hardware models do not enforce ADOM limits. These models will display a warning message when the ADOM limit is reached or exceeded; adding more ADOMs may affect performance. These devices are still subject to maximum device limits which are listed in the FortiAnalyzer Data Sheet.

The table below lists the maximum number of ADOMs by platform. Models that enforce the maximum as a hard limit are indicated in the Hard limit column.

Virtual Machines

Note

ADOM limits are recommended for VMs, but not enforced.

FortiAnalyzer-VM subscription licenses are stackable and come in the following tiers:

  • 5 GB/Day

  • 50 GB/Day

  • 500 GB/Day

The default number of ADOMs is based on the total GB/Day licensed for the FortiAnalyzer platform.

See the table below for the default maximum number of ADOMs supported according to GB/Day:

800

License > 5000 GB/Day

1200

Example

Example:

The 5 GB/Day license includes 10 ADOMs.

When two 5 GB/Day licenses are stacked, only the GB/Day is stacked (5 GB/Day + 5 GB/Day = 10 GB/Day). The default number of ADOMs, however, is not stacked. Instead, the default number of ADOMs is increased based on the total GB/Day licensed to the FortiAnalyzer-VM. Referring to the table above, a FortiAnalyzer-VM licensed for 10 GB/Day will include 25 ADOMs.
