Asset groups

Asset groups

Asset groups allow you to organize and manage assets by grouping them together and assigning user groups to them. You can create new, customized asset groups in My Account. You can assign an asset to multiple asset groups, as needed.

Two default asset groups are available:

  • All Assets: Includes all registered assets.

  • Unassigned Assets: Includes all registered assets that have not been assigned to an asset group.

Once the asset groups and user groups are configured in My Account, they will appear in the Asset Management portal. See Asset groups in the Asset Management portal.

User groups

User groups are groups of sub users. User groups can be assigned to asset groups so that sub users within the user group can access the assets in the associated asset groups.

Note

One sub user can only belong to a single user group. However, a user group can be associated with multiple asset groups, and vice versa. See Asset groups in the Asset Management portal.

User permissions are configured at the user level. Therefore, permissions within a user group can vary per sub user:

Description

Administrator This default user group gives the same permissions as master account users to any sub users included within the group. Administrators can manage asset groups, such as adding and deleting asset groups, and can manage user groups. This default group cannot be modified or deleted.
User Manager Users with these permissions are the user group administrator. They can add, delete, and update sub users within the current user group.
Asset Manager Users with these permissions can manage asset group content, such as adding and removing assets within their view scope. However, these permissions do not allow the user to create asset groups. For information on a user's view scope, see Asset groups in the Asset Management portal.
Asset Registration Users with these permissions can register assets to their current asset groups.
Support Users with these permissions can control ticket requests depending on their role.
