system remote-mail-server

Use this command to configure connections to remote mail servers for the email migration feature.

This command is available only if the FortiMail system is operating in server mode, and if email-migration-status {enable | disable} is enable.

Syntax

config system remote-mail-server

edit <remote-mail-server_str>

set host {<server_fqdn> | <server_ipv4>}

set protocol {imap | imaps}

set port <port_int>

set login-name-format {email-address | local-part-only}

<remote-mail-server_str>

Enter a unique name for the server.

host {<server_fqdn> | <server_ipv4>}

Enter the FQDN or IP address of the remote mail server, or a NAT IP address (on FortiGate, this is called a "virtual IP") that can be used to reach it.

port <port_int>

Enter the port number where the remote mail server listens for connections, or where a router or firewall) has a port mapping for it

FortiMail must be able to connect to this port number. If required, adjust firewalls between FortiMail and the remote server.

protocol {imap | imaps}

Select whether to connect to the remote mail server using either IMAP or IMAPS.

login-name-format {email-address | local-part-only}

Select the username format that the server expects, either:

  • email-address (for example, username@example.com)

  • local-part-only (for example, username)
