Transfer Endpoint License Entitlements

Contact Customer Service to have the endpoint license contracts moved to the new serial number.

This step should be done two weeks prior to the cutover. This provides Customer Service time to complete the procedures necessary to move the entitlements to the new appliance Serial Number.

Note the current system will continue to run as it does currently. Any FortiCare ticket creation done once the entitlements have been transferred, however, will need the new Serial Number as the identity marker to the account.

  1. Log in to the Customer Portal at www.support.fortinet.com.

  2. Search for the FortiNAC server.

  3. Click on the product and record the following:

    1. Serial Number under Product Information

    2. All License Numbers with License Type FortiNAC Upgrade listed under the License & Key (FTNACXXXXXXXX).

  4. Return to the Products list and record the Serial Number of the new FortiNAC-F appliance.

  5. Create a Customer Service ticket in FortiCare to transition the endpoint licenses and license support.

    Subject: Transfer Endpoint License Entitlements to New FortiNAC

    Category: Unit/Contract/License Transfer

  6. Copy and paste the following into the ticket comment:

    Dear Customer Service,

    I would like to move the following endpoint License Numbers and their associated endpoint license support:

    FTNACXXXXXXXX

    FTNACXXXXXXXX

    from (old server) Serial Number <old appliance Serial Number> to (new server) Serial Number <FortiNAC-F Serial Number>.

During this process, Customer Service will email the customer requesting approval for the transfer. After the approval has been granted, Customer Service will update the FortiCare ticket once the entitlements are moved. Note this process can take several days to complete. It is not necessary to wait for the completion of the transfer in order to build the appliances. Proceed to the next section.
