Licensing FortiTester

FortiTester hardware / appliance and virtual machine are licensed slightly differently. For evaluation equipment and licenses please contact your local Fortinet sales representative.

FortiTester hardware can perform Performance, Security and MITRE ATT&CK simulation. Hardware appliances can operate offline (no internet) if required. Security and MITRE ATT&CK tests ship with default (not full) signatures. Updates can be acquired via FortiGuard with either evaluation or full license, via direct or proxied Internet connection, or via FortiManager.

FortiTester Virtual Machine will require the user to validate the license via Internet, either direct or via explicit proxy (See Updating FortiGuard), or with FortiManager (see FAQ). If the licensed virtual machines are not validated, only HTTP CPS test can be run and other tests will be disabled. Once the virtual machine validates via Internet, it can operate 3 days offline if required.
