Adding device groups

Adding device groups

With Device Manager, you can add a group, and then add devices to this group. These groups allow you to organize your devices in the navigation tree.

To add a device group:

  1. Click Add Group. The Add Group dialog appears.
  2. Configure these settings:

    Name

    Type the name of the device group that can be referenced by other parts.
    Description Optionally, enter a description for the group, such as its geographic location.
    Type Select how to add devices to the device group when creating a job.
    • Manual: Select this type to manually add devices to the device group.
    • Auto-sync: If the devices to be added to the device group are deployed in autoscaling group on Azure/AWS, use this type. Configure the following settings for Cloud Type Azure/AWS as below:

    AWS

    Access Key ID The access key ID used together with the access key secret for an IAM user or the AWS account root user.
    Access Key Secret The access key secret used for an IAM user or the AWS account root user.
    Region Name Enter the supported AWS service location name.
    Auto-Scaling Group Enter the autoscaling group name.
    Azure

    Subscription ID The automatically generated ID for a subscription. For example, for the subscription BYOL-DevOps, it has a related ID, 2f96c44c-cfb2-4621-bd36-65ba45185e0c.
    Tenant ID The directory ID of the created active directory.
    Client ID The application ID of the registered FortiWeb.
    Client Key The key value of the registered FortiWeb application.
    Resource Group An independent group created for each resource, which stores all information and configurations of the resource.
    Scale Set The scale set name created within the resource group. By configuring a scale set, required virtual machine resources can be automatically created when specific condition is met.
    Admin Password The password of the default account for the automatically created virtual machine resources by a scale set.
    Variable List

    Click to add name and value for a variable in the Variable List. You can also click to delete a variable from the variable list.

    The variable added here is used in the command line of Jobs > Config File Management below:

    Variables for a group will apply to all devices once the configuration is pushed.

    If the variable name for a group is the same as that of a device, the variable for the device shall be prioritized.

  3. Click OK, and the newly added group can be found on the left pane below:
