config user local

config user local

Use this command to configure user accounts in the local authentication server. You can add or delete accounts, or change the password, but you cannot edit usernames.

Before you begin:

  • You must have read-write permission for system settings.

Syntax

config user local

edit <name>

set password <password>

set 2fa-support {none | forti-token-cloud}

set email <email>

set phone <phone>

<name>

Name of the user account, such as user1 or user1@example.com.

Do not use spaces or special characters except the ‘at’ symbol ( @ ) or dot (.). The maximum length is 35 characters.

After you initially save the configuration, you cannot edit the name.

password

Specify a password. The stored password will be encrypted.

2fa-support

2-fa support using FortiToken Cloud. Disabled by default. Present if the client-auth-method is html_form_auth

email

User email address. Present when use-2fa is enabled

phone

User phone number.
