Setting up notification method for job status

To receive notifications for the job status (successful or failed), you need to create notification method in System Settings > Notifications. When you create a job, you can select the notification method for the job. For more information on jobs, see Jobs.

  1. Go to System Settings > Notifications > Notifications.
  2. Click Create. The New Notifications window will open.
  3. Configure the following settings.
    Name Enter a name for this method.
    Type Select the notification type.
    SMTP server

    Type the fully qualified domain name (FQDN, e.g. mail.example.com) or IP address of the SMTP relay or server, such as a FortiMail appliance, that the FortiWeb Manager appliance uses to send alerts and generated reports.

    Caution: If you enter a domain name, you must also configure the FortiWeb Manager appliance with at least one DNS server. Failure to configure a DNS server may cause the FortiWeb Manager appliance to be unable to resolve the domain name, and therefore unable to send the alert. For details about configuring a DNS server, see Configuring DNS.

    Security Mode

    Select one of the following options:

    • NoneFortiWeb Manager applies no security protocol to email.
    • SSL/TLS—Encrypts the connection to the SMTP server using SSL/TLS.
    • STARTTLS—Encrypts the connection to the SMTP server using STARTTLS.
    Port Enter the port on the SMTP server that listens for alerts and the generated reports from FortiWeb Manager. The default port is 25.
    Authentication Enable if the SMTP relay requires authentication.
    SMTP Username

    Type the user name of the account on the SMTP relay that FortiWeb Manager uses to send alerts.

    This option is available only if Authentication is enabled.

    SMTP Password

    Type the password of the account on the SMTP relay that FortiWeb Manager uses to send alerts.

    This option is available only if Authentication is enabled.

    Email From Type the sender email address that the FortiWeb Manager appliance will use when sending alert email messages.
    Email To Type up to five recipient email addresses. Enter one per field.
