Action

Action

The action field is in FortiMail log messages where type=system.

It indicates what FortiMail did during the event, or as a response to the event.

Field Value

Description

No action.

Note

Both can have this action:

  • Normal events that do not require correction, such as FortiMail system clock synchronization with an NTP server, or an administrator viewing the logs
  • Errors that FortiMail cannot automatically correct, and may require you to troubleshoot, such as high CPU usage

To distinguish them, look up the root cause for the log_id field.

bootup

FortiMail started.

login

An administrator or email user tried to authenticate to start a session in the GUI, CLI, or REST API. To determine if the attempt succeeded, see the status field. If the login did not succeed, also see the reason field.

logout

An administrator or email user ended an authenticated session.

reboot

An administrator restarted the FortiMail.

upgrade

Software (firmware) on the FortiMail was updated.
